Inspired by Miguel de Cervantes' 17th century novel, Don Quixote, "Man of LaMancha" premiered on Broadway in 1965, earning that year's Tony Award for Best Musical. It tells the story of the "mad" knight Don Quixote, as a play within a play, performed by Cervantes and his fellow prisoners as he awaits a hearing with the Spanish Inquisition. His inspirational story lifts them out of their plight, transforming them all. Notable music from the Tony Award winning score includes "Dulcinea," and “The Impossible Dream.”
