Zoot Suit

Still powerful after 40 years, combining music and drama, this uniquely Los Angeles story set in 1943, details the bias towards Mexicans in LA during the period. The mythic “El Pachuco” and the Zoot Suit “uniform” that defined Hispanic youth pride are interwoven with the sketchy trial of members of the 38th Street gang after a murder at Sleepy Lagoon, and the subsequent Zoot Suit riots. A must see for anyone who considers themselves “Angelenos.”
