The idea for ICE BREAKERS emerged at a recent artistic retreat when company members were asked to create short scenes with themes of borders, immigration, and deportation. ICE BREAKERS has since been developed into a medium that provides artists and audiences with a safe space to react and the freedom to share silenced personal narratives, and even empathy across political lines. The ICE BREAKERS artists hope to move folks past the out-of-context video clips, soundbites, and statistics and to recognize shared feelings of fear, struggle and hope. The collaborating artists of ICE BREAKERS include Fadela Gacis-Castro, Giomara Bazaldua, Joyous Windrider, Lisa Suarez, Jessica Hawkins and Chuck Squier.
