What the Constitution Means to Me

Written by Heidi Schreck Director: Lynne Hastings At 15 years old, Heidi funded her college education by making speeches about the Constitution at American Legion Halls; decades later, she’s back with a grown woman’s perspective on just how “we the people” of today begin to relate to the document that built our nation 240 years ago. Part family history, part debate, and part love letter to the Constitution, this bold play examines the strengths and shortcomings of the many amendments that underwrite our government (including the ones you didn’t memorize in high school). It’s not your daddy’s civic lesson, but it just might be the most personal look you’ve ever taken at the living words that built our national identity.
